Job Responsibilities:

  • Undertake routine health surveillance/risk assessments & evaluating results to ensure legal compliance and policy adherence.
  • Monitoring & evaluating the effectiveness of workplace health management strategies and targeting action areas.
  • Administration – maintaining employee medical records to meet GDPR 2018 and Medical Ethics regulations.
  • Maintain & develop working relationships with other stakeholders, such as colleagues, managers, HR personnel, employee GPs; contracted OH physicians, OH contractors, etc.
  • Seek opportunities to educate, guide and support the development of all colleagues across the business.
  • Researching changing OH&S practices/legislation & presenting objective action plans to ensure compliance.
  • To be prepared to constructively give feedback and receive constructive feedback for the greater good of the business and self-development.
  • Seek to understand and build working relationships of respect and collaboration.
  • Assessing with managers, and local work areas & formulating rehabilitation programs ensuring a safe & sustained return to work for employees who have been absent from work due to ill health or injury.
  • Working with the Health and Safety site HR teams to develop & implement strategies to reduce injury & occupational disease in the workplace & improve employee well-being.
  • Presenting independent & objective action plans to target H&S concern areas
  • Delivery of business/team & H&S functional objectives.
  • To meet agreed KPI/standards and deliver within these standards.
  • Assessing with managers, and local work areas & formulating rehabilitation programs ensuring a safe & sustained return to work for employees who have been absent from work due to ill health or injury.
  • Raising the employee’s awareness, as well as managers, of the importance of good health management practices.
  • New Starter health screening. to ensure fit for task or adequate adjustment is made where required to protect health.
  • Provide medical advice and opinion to referring managers, HR, and employees to protect health and remain/retain/resume work with suitable adjustments as required.
  • Diary management and flexibility.
  • Demand management in terms of priorities of the business.
  • Completion of Occupational health surveillance program.
  • Reducing absence rates by promoting the effective return to work strategies.
  • Delivery of Occupational Health work plan.
  • Promotion of Well-being strategies and plans.
  • Action referrals and reports against KPIs

Job Requirements:

  • Recognized First Level Nurse.
  • Occupational Health Specialist qualification – (minimum Diploma in Occupational Health).
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certificate.
  • Professional current registration.
  • Reflective and questioning skills.
  • Administration skills.
  • Planning & organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving.
  • H&S legislation awareness/understanding.
  • Research/assessment skills.
  • Listening and communication skills.
  • Full understanding of legislation relating to record keeping & data security.
  • Computer literate with software experience in Word, Excel, Email & Adobe.
  • Knowledge of OH database use – preferably Cohort V10.
  • Able to work autonomously & use initiative.
  • Self-motivated and solution-focused.
  • Business focussed with the ability to give robust advice, opinion & recommendation
  • Full driving license.
  • Self-awareness and ability to identify knowledge gaps in self/team & seek solutions.
  • Flexibility, resilience & persistence.
  • Keen desire to support a change & drive improvement.
  • Team player.

Job Experience:

Minimum of 2 years experience.
